SPI pillar: capacity and growth
Capacity planning for the SaaS apps you run
Capacity and growth is one of the four pillars of SaaS Portfolio Intelligence (SPI). As customers grow, databases fill and busy hours get busier — usually long before anyone notices.
SaaS Sentinel reviews every project weekly, shows the trend behind each reading and tells you when an upgrade is worth it, with the price attached.
How SaaS Sentinel plans capacity
Weekly capacity review
Every Sunday each project's last seven days are reviewed, giving a plain-English verdict: upgrade now, soon or not needed.
Trends at a glance
Sparklines across recent reviews show how CPU, memory, disk activity, disk space and response time are changing. Missing readings stay as gaps rather than being guessed.
Variability, not just averages
Peaks and swings in performance are highlighted, so a project that is fine on average but struggling at busy times is spotted.
Upgrades with a price
Recommendations name the Supabase size to move to and the approximate monthly cost difference, ready to set against your margin.
History with releases
Capacity readings sit on the History timeline next to publishes, log events and fixes, so you can see what changed utilisation.

Questions
- How often does capacity planning run?
- Health readings are collected every 15 minutes and the capacity review runs weekly, on a staggered Sunday schedule.
- What about apps on Lovable Cloud?
- Lovable Cloud does not share CPU, memory or disk figures with outside tools, so those apps are labelled as Lovable Cloud and do not receive capacity alerts based on missing data.
- Will it tell me when to upgrade?
- Yes. Each review says whether an upgrade is needed now, soon or not, which size to choose and roughly what it costs per month.
